Everyone needs a go to barbeque sauce recipe. Once you’ve made your own, you’ll start skipping the sauce aisle at the grocery store and throwing your own together. My sauce for years has been inspired by the Neely’s who had their own food show in the mid 2000’s. You can change this simple recipe up and make it your own by adding extra spice, more sweetness and anything else your heart desires. For the basic recipe, check it out below.
Quick and Simple Barbeque Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 tablespoon ground whole grain mustard
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 5 tablespoons dark brown sugar light will work great too
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat to simmer and cook uncovered for an hour stirring frequently with a whisk to ensure it doesn’t burn or stick to the bottom of the pan.
